  4 - Bear Earth Herbals - DIY nature craft for kids, some demos on other folk skills and various folk skill materials for touching and exploring, a herbal tea available for folks who bring their own cups/mugs!

18 - Grand Traverse Butterfly House & Bug Zoo
27 - Grass River - hands-on activities are geared towards families, people of all ages
29 - Inland Seas - hands on kids activities

Ongoing events include artist Louise Pond, various booth talks, edible plant ID nature walks hosted by Bear Earth Herbals (booth 4) , Animal Soup hosted by DNR (booth 31)
 
Information Station in HERTH all day: participant map, list and location of activities for kids, Green Elk Rapids booth, directions to public restrooms, lost and found. HERTH building.
Nature Fest uses QR codes where possible to reduce paper waste.

  • Your beach gear: swim wear, beach toys, beach towels, sunscreen.  Nature Fest is located on a public beach with a playground on the shore of Lake Michigan.
  • Your Paddle Board: there are multiple public access points in which to launch your paddle board

There are lots of places to explore in Downtown Elk Rapids, don't forget to check out Ames street (east of 31)!

Nature Fest Booths located in ​Memorial park which features a modest beach on the Grand Traverse Bay and has plenty of space to spread out a blanket for a picnic. The north end has a basketball and tennis courts, with the southern end has a nice wooded area that is perfect for spotting local birds. There is a playground area for young children.

Nature Fest, with charming Historic Elk Rapids Township Hall as its hub,  offers lots of exciting ideas, projects and family-friendly activities. If you're planning a trip to enjoy the beach and the quaint downtown - We'd love to see you on Saturday, June 18!


Get a fresh perspective from an interesting mix of 40 nature oriented organizations located in booths around beautiful Veterans' Memorial Park.  Plus:

Nature Fest aspires to be a sustainable event with the following practices: 
  • Provide QR codes for information in lieu of paper whenever possible
  • ​Request that our guests bring their own personal beverage holders
